Why Should Any Man Complain?

It is tragic what African Americans have suffered from slavery to the present day struggles the race has.  However, the unique black experience has been and is due in large part to the judgment of a just God who could have completely destroyed us, but instead chose to bring us through much tribulation.  And since He is perfectly just, we  can   know  that He sees and will punish those who have served (and serve) as the human agents of His judgment for their wickedness (Lamentations 3:34-36; Jeremiah 25:8-14).  Nevertheless, even if He did not do this, in soberly thinking on the African American experience, aren't we led like Jeremiah to conclude: "Why should  any living  man  complain when punished for his sins,"  (Lamentations  3:39)?

The more appropriate response is to confess and repent from our sins and turn back to the Lord (Lamentations 3:40-42).
