How Can You Enjoy The Victory Of Jesus Christ?

1. Be Sure You Are In A Right Relationship With Him!

No one--whether they profess to be a Christian or not, can enjoy the victory of the risen Christ living willfully in rebellion against His will, way and Word.  Therefore, right now, in all humility and sincerity through prayer, as an unbeliever turn to the Lord for the first time with all of your heart by repentance and faith in the Gospel--that He died on the cross for your sins, was buried and rose again on the third day--or as a professed Christian that has been disobedient:

Confess  Your Sins
Repent    From Your Sins
Accept    His Atoning Death For Your Sins
Believe   He Is Risen And Forgives Your Sins
Receive  The Holy Spirit, New Life, Revival Or Renewal1

2. Put Your Whole Trust And Confidence In And Rely Upon Him!

The Christian slave ancestors of black Americans did this and left a legacy of their faith in thousands of work songs and spirituals.  1 John 5:4-5 teaches whoever is born of God and puts their faith in His Son, overcomes the world, its trials, hardships, suffering and even death which are all part of the human experience on planet earth.

3. Wait Patiently On The Lord Through It All!

America´s newly freed slaves were filled with great hope about their future at the end of the Civil War in 1865.  However, their hopes were quickly dashed by racial prejudice involving discrimination, segregation and violent hate crimes that continued for almost the next 100 years.  The Christians among the people took to heart Scriptures such as Lamentations 3:19-26 which express the believer´s confidence in God´s mercies, faithfulness and goodness as well as John 16:33 wherein Jesus counsels, "be of good cheer" (NKJV) in the face of assured suffering since He had overcome the world.

4. Accept Suffering As God´s Loving Discipline And Do Good!

A common characteristic of faithful black Christians from slavery until now is the humility of Christ (Philippians 2:5-8) even while being harshly treated.  Such a disposition accepts persecution, trials and suffering as from God´s permitting hand, until, God directs otherwise as in the case of the Civil Rights Movement. With the humility of Christ, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led many black Christians and sympathizers to peacefully as well as successfully challenge the evils of America´s legally sanctioned racism.  As Philippians 1:29, Hebrews 12:3-11, 1 Peter 3:13-17 and 4:12-19 teach, it is truly the Christian´s privilege to suffer for Christ´s sake as discipline and the glory of God!

1 Whether you are a new Christian or one returning to the Lord in renewed commitment, He wants you to joyfully engage in His command to witness Him to others (Acts 1:8).  The Lord also wants you to meet with Him in daily prayer and study of His Word (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18; 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:14-17).  Finally, the Lord wants you to assemble together with a local fellowship of Bible believing and teaching Christians (Hebrews 10:24-25).
